Mattai’s – Guyana’s one stop food depot – is living up to its name as it opened a new food mart across the street from its other branch on Water and Hope Streets, Georgetown, which promises quality food. The new establishment, named ‘Mattai’s: The Food Market’ was declared open on Friday.
According to Managing Director of the franchise, Harry Mattai, the new food mart is already known in the Caribbean.
“Quite a few people flew in from the Caribbean when they heard about the store, its size, what we’re doing, the quality, where we’re heading, where we’re taking the business to the next level and they’re very impressed,” Mattai said at the opening.
He added that the new facility includes a boardroom, an IT department and a training room, which will be used to build the capacity of its staff and also the staff of other similar companies in Guyana.
“Our mission is not only just hiring people,” he said. “We believe in a lot of training; we plan to do a lot of nice things with the company to make our staff and our people better to serve,” the Managing Director explained.
Mattai promises high standards in the products that they will be providing. “We’re looking at standards, we’re looking at certificates, we’re looking at dates, we’re looking at quality,” Mattai said.
The Managing Director promises that plans are already afoot to expand further in order to deliver value to Guyanese.
